1. Would you describe yourself as an athlete?
Of course. However, I’m more than just an athlete. I’m a wife, a coach, a sister and a daughter who happens to love to run! Pursuing a healthy lifestyle is foundational to who I am.
2. Have you always been a runner?
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a runner. As a girl in elementary school, I played as many sports as they’d let me, but I fell in love with running because of its simplicity. All you need is pair of shoes and you’re free. No matter what happened in my life, I could always leave it behind me out on the trail.
3. Do you participate in many races?
Of course! It’s the best part! Why put in so much work and not reward yourself with fun and fast races? I “treat” myself to nearly thirty races a year. I reward myself by charging through ice and mud in the fall for cross country, hanging on for dear life around tight turns in the winter for indoor track, and lighting up the homestretch in the spring for outdoor track! Oh and in between all of that I love the thrill of hammering down city streets for road races!
4. What motivates you to train and compete harder?
Obviously, I’m blessed to run every day and compete across the world doing what I love! I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that sometimes running and racing can be a little tough. But I’m not just running for me – I’m running for my family, friends and partners who believe in me – when the going gets tough, the tough get going! (With a little help from friends and family…).
5. Any tips on nutrition that you try and follow?
This is a great question! The best advice I’ve ever gotten is, when it come to nutrition, your body knows best. Listen to what your body is telling you. I think too much focus on nutrition can be a bad thing. However, I will say that I think eating a lot of complex carbohydrates in endurance training is a key. Also try adding a lot of colors to your diet makes it look tasty and, more importantly, healthy. Timing is everything in nutrition success. For example, if I know that tomorrow, I have a big workout or race, I’ll make a green smoothie the night before and pack it with me, and a banana and almonds, so I can enjoy it all right after I finish! Yum.
6. How did you hear about Beet It Sport?
Being a world class athlete has its perks! I’ve been blessed to compete all across the globe and meet countless new friends and competitors along the way. I first heard about Beet It when I was fortunate enough to compete at the World Cross Country Championships. I heard about the amazing effects that beet juice can have on athletes and wanted to see if the hype was real. Let me tell you it is. Beets are amazing natural sources of nitrates which help your body do its job of processing oxygen. During a hard race or workout, you know you need all the oxygen you can get! I noticed an immediate benefit to my racing, running and overall fitness.
7. Did you notice benefit to using Beet It Sport?
Right away! Not only was racing and running easier, I even felt better during daily tasks. I noticed a serious benefit in my recovery time and overall wellbeing! Beet It is the main supplement I use because it’s all natural and so good for you!
Anything additional you would like to add about Beet It Sport?
It is the most convenient product to travel with to and from races, workouts and everything in between. Even the TSA appreciates Beet It’s compactable convenience! I can’t train the way I do, and live the life I do, without Beet It!
