We are hugely honoured to introduce, Paralympian, Sophia Herzog as our first ever Beet It Sport US Ambassador!

We caught up with Sophia ahead of her month as Beet It Ambassador. Read our interview below.

How did you get involved in swimming?

I got involved with swimming by it being therapeutic for my joints , and showing potential for the future.

Growing up, who was your all-time inspirational sports person?

My all-time inspirational sports person would be Erin Popovich, three time paralympian 14 gold.

What advice would you give to a young, aspiring swimmer?

My advice would be that your future self will thank you for all the hard work you put in now.

Your best swimming achievement so far?

Silver Medal in the SB6 100 Breastroke in the 2016 Paralympic Games.

Aspirations in swimming for 2017 and beyond?

Earn a spot of the 2017 Worlds Team and hopefully earn a gold this time in the 100 Breastroke.

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?

I go to school full time with DeVry, and have a job as a tour guide of the OTC.

What are your top three sport nutrition tips?

1. Consume some sort of protein right after workout
2. Beet Juice shot right before a competition
3. Always have a full serving of vegetables every day

What are your top two training tips?

1. Technique is key
2. Have a variety of different types of workouts (cardio, endurance, sprints, etc)
